King City Games (“we”, “us”) runs this website, kingcitygames.com, and our store at 401 S. 10th St, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the website, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Orders: your name, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number, and what you bought, so we can fulfil your order, arrange shipping or local pickup, and contact you about it.
Your account: if you create an account, your login details and order history.
Payments: card payments are processed by WooPayments, which is powered by Stripe. Your full card number is sent directly to the payment processor and is never stored on our website.
Contact form: your name, email address, optional phone number and message, so we can reply to you.
Email and text sign-ups: if you join our email list or text messages (online, by scanning a sign in the store, or when asked at checkout), your name, email address, mobile number, the games and email topics you choose, and your birthday if you give it. See “Emails and text messages” below.
Technical information: like most websites, our servers record your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. We use this to keep the site secure and working properly.

Cookies

We use cookies that the store needs to work: to keep items in your cart, keep you signed in, and remember your session during checkout. We also use cookies from the services listed below for security, bot protection and visitor statistics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but the cart and checkout may not work without them.

Emails and text messages

We only send marketing emails and texts to people who asked for them. Email sign-ups made on our website are confirmed by clicking a link we email you. Text messages are confirmed by replying YES to our first text.

What we send: news about events, new arrivals, sales, coupons and the topics you choose (for example the weekly newsletter or Daily Deals). Daily Deals emails are sent every day.
Personalization: we use your interests, your birthday and your purchase history with us (in the store and on this website) to choose what to send you, such as items related to games you buy. We may add a game you buy often to your interests; every such email tells you why and lets you turn it off.
Email activity: our marketing emails contain a small image and links that tell us when an email is opened, which links are clicked, and the type of device and email app used. We use this to measure which emails are useful and to send fewer emails you don’t care about. You can block this by turning off images in your email app or by unsubscribing.
Text messages: message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel at any time, or HELP for help. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of any purchase. We will not share your mobile number or your text-message consent with anyone for their own marketing.
Coupons: coupons we send are personal and single-use; we record when they are redeemed in the store or online.
Changing your mind: every marketing email has an Unsubscribe link and a Manage Preferences link where you can pick topics, change how often we email, pause emails or turn texts on or off. Unsubscribing takes effect immediately. You will still receive emails about your orders.

Giveaways

When you enter one of our giveaways at kcg.news/giveaways, we collect your name, email address, IP address and a browser cookie, and keep a record of the entries you earn and the friends who enter with your invite link. We use this to run the giveaway, prevent duplicate and fake entries, and contact the winner. Your entries page is private: anyone with its link can see it, so don’t share that link (share your invite link instead).

Joining our email list is optional and never required to enter or win. If you tick the box, you’re added the same way as any other sign-up.
Discord: if you choose to confirm that you joined our Discord server, Discord tells us your Discord user ID and the list of servers you’re in. We check that our server is on the list, keep only a scrambled (hashed) copy of the ID so one Discord account can’t be used twice, and don’t keep anything else.
Facebook: we record that you opened our Facebook page from your entries page. We can’t see whether you follow us.
Winners: we ask the winner for a mailing address (if they choose mailed gift cards) and may post their first name and last initial on the giveaway’s winners page.
We keep giveaway entries for up to one year after the giveaway ends, then delete them. You can ask us to delete your entry sooner, but that withdraws it from the drawing.

Services we use

We share information with these service providers only as needed for them to do their job for us:

WooPayments / Stripe: card payment processing and fraud prevention.
Cloudflare Turnstile: the “verify you are human” check on checkout, gift card balance, giveaway entry and contact forms, which helps block automated abuse.
Jetpack (WordPress.com): anonymous visitor statistics and protection against login attacks.
Wordfence: website security and firewall, which records IP addresses of visitors to detect attacks.
Email delivery: our own mail server sends order confirmations, sign-up confirmations and replies; Amazon Web Services (Amazon SES) delivers our newsletters and other marketing emails.
Twilio: sends and receives our text messages.
Discord: only if you choose to confirm your membership in our Discord server during a giveaway.
Shipping carriers: receive your name and shipping address when we ship an order to you.
Google Fonts: provides some of the fonts used on this site.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

How long we keep information

We keep order records for as long as needed for accounting, tax and legal purposes. Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to answer you. If you have an account, you can ask us to delete it at any time. For email and text marketing, we keep a record of when and how you agreed or unsubscribed (as proof of your choice), and we keep your address on a do-not-email list if a message to it bounces or you report it as spam, so we never email it again by mistake.

Your choices and rights

You can view and update your account details and order history in My account. You can also ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, except where we must keep it for legal or accounting reasons. To make a request, contact us or call (618) 816-7007. To stop marketing emails, use the Unsubscribe link in any of them; to stop texts, reply STOP.

Children

Our website is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
